Date: February 28 – March 1, 2025
We are honored to announce that The Network is co-sponsoring Refugee Shabbat 2025, a meaningful global event dedicated to raising awareness for refugees, asylum seekers, and forcibly displaced people around the world. This event is a powerful opportunity for communities to come together, reflect on our shared values, and reaffirm our commitment to justice, safety, and compassion for those in need.
This year’s Refugee Shabbat will take place from February 28 – March 1, 2025, offering congregations and individuals around the world a chance to dedicate their Shabbat experience to supporting displaced communities. Whether you are able to participate during this weekend or select another date in winter or spring 2025, we invite you to register and be a part of this important moment of solidarity.
Why Refugee Shabbat Matters
In the wake of global crises such as war, persecution, and climate disasters, millions of people are forced to flee their homes in search of safety. Refugee Shabbat offers a time to pause, reflect, and renew our dedication to these vulnerable populations. It’s a moment to celebrate the progress made and to commit to the ongoing work of creating a more welcoming, just, and compassionate world.
Through HIAS and its partners, we have made significant strides in providing safety and support to refugees worldwide. However, there is still much to be done. This year’s Refugee Shabbat is an opportunity to strengthen our collective voice, ensuring that those seeking refuge are welcomed with dignity and hope.
