DESCRIPTION:Topic: Understanding Today’s American Orthodox Community: Insights\, Trends\, and Implications for Social Service Professionals \nWe have invited Mark Trencher\, the founder of Nishma Research. whose research and analysis over the past decade have helped illuminate key trends\, challenges\, and opportunities within contemporary American Orthodoxy. As we all know\, the American Orthodox community is often discussed as a single entity\, yet it encompasses a wide range of beliefs\, practices\, institutions\, and perspectives. \nFor professionals serving Orthodox individuals and families\, understanding this diversity is essential to providing effective\, culturally responsive services and building meaningful community partnerships. \n  \nDrawing on findings from his work\, he will provide an overview of the Orthodox landscape today\, exploring questions such as: \nWhat does it mean to be Modern Orthodox\, Centrist Orthodox\, or Haredi in today’s environment? \nHow is Orthodoxy evolving at both the institutional and individual levels? \nWhat are the most significant challenges and opportunities facing Orthodox communities? \nHow are issues such as leadership\, communal engagement\, identity\, and relationships with the broader Jewish world being discussed and navigated? \nWhat insights can help social service professionals better understand and serve Orthodox individuals\, families\, and communities? \n  \nFollowing his presentation\, NETGroup members will have the opportunity to engage in discussion and ask questions related to their work with Orthodox clients and communities. \n  \nWhether you are new to working with Orthodox populations or have years of experience\, this session will offer valuable context\, perspective\, and practical insights to inform your work

SUMMARY:NETGroup: Holocaust Survivor Services - Supervisors/Directors
DESCRIPTION:Topic: Supporting Second and Third Generation Survivors \nBuilding on our recent Holocaust Survivor Services Professionals NETGroup\, highlighting the “To Be Continued…” podcast and the voices of second and third generation survivors\, we want to maintain our momentum and focus on ways member agencies are supporting the next generations and discuss how agencies can offer support. \nIn this meeting we will meet Melissa Williams\, Holocaust Educator\, with The LJD Jewish Family & Community Services. We will hear about “The Speakers Bureau”\, an innovative program that began as a community education initiative. While its initial goal was to help second and third generation survivors educate the community about the Holocaust by sharing their stories\, it has evolved into something much larger…a therapeutic and cathartic experience for the participants themselves. \nAfter learning about this program\, we will open the floor to share ways member agencies are supporting second and third generation survivors and brainstorm ways agencies can lend support moving forward.
