SUMMARY:NETTalk: Memory Cafes: Tools and Inspiration to Start Your Own
DESCRIPTION:Date & Time: November 12\, 2025 | 2:30–3:30 PM EST \nMemory Cafes are gaining attention as cost-effective ways to reduce social isolation and spark joy for people living with dementia and the people who care about them. Now\, a new national resource makes it easier to learn to start a Memory Cafe\, and easier for people to find Cafes to attend in their community. Join us to hear how JF&CS of Greater Boston helped nurture the grassroots movement that launched the Memory Cafe Alliance. Beth Soltzberg from JF&CS and Sam Goodrich from the Memory Cafe Alliance will share the journey and – most importantly – let you know about resources that you can use and share now. \nAbout the Presenters \n \nBeth Soltzberg directs the Alzheimer’s/ Related Dementias Family Support Program of Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Boston. In 2014 she founded the JF&CS Memory Cafe Percolator\, a free resource-sharing network for Memory Cafes throughout the U.S. and beyond\, and is a lead advisor for the national Memory Cafe Alliance. She is a clinical social worker and holds an MSW and MBA from the University of Chicago\, and an advanced credential in hospice and palliative care social work. \n \nSam Goodrich is the Program Director for TimeSlips Creative Storytelling. She has developed several TimeSlips projects in which elders with dementia and their care partners are creatively engaged for better health outcomes. In addition to her work with TimeSlips\, Goodrich designed the newly launched Memory Cafe Alliance training\, which supports community leaders to create stigma-free spaces for people living with dementia and their care partners to meaningfully connect. Goodrich holds a BFA in Musical Theater from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has deep personal experience integrating the arts into the tender work of caregiving. \n  \n  \n \nThis program is made possible by GoGo Grandparent who have been helping seniors and disabled adults since 2016. Maintaining independence is one of GoGo Grandparent’s key pillars. Their innovative GoGo Guardian technology enhances the reliability and usability of transportation partners like Uber & Lyft\, and other services like on-demand grocery & pharmaceutical delivery\, ensuring that people can live independently in their homes for as long as possible.

SUMMARY:NETGroup: Food Pantry Professionals
DESCRIPTION:Topic: Supporting Immigrant and Refugee Families & Sharing our “Mission Moment” Stories \nWe will focus on an important and timely topic: supporting immigrant and refugee families who may no longer be coming to our pantries. We’ve noticed a decline in attendance from these communities and are concerned about their access to food. At the same time\, we understand the barriers and hesitations they may face in coming to our pantries. We are exploring options\, such as delivery\, and are eager to hear from other agencies: Are you seeing the same trend? How are you addressing it? This will be a space to share experiences\, challenges\, and creative solutions to ensure that all families in our communities have access to the food they need. \nPlease join us to discuss strategies and collaborate on ways to support these families effectively. \nAnd\, in the spirit of Thanksgiving\, we want to ask you all to bring a “Mission Moment” to share with our NETGroup. \nFor example\, this is Bonnie’s… Mendel came in with his Mom to pick out his backpack and school supplies. He saw this gently used bike leaning against the wall and asked if he could take it for a ride. He drove it around the warehouse and when he pulled up to me I asked him if he would like to take this bike home . Seven year old Mendel said\, ‘Bonnie\, you’ve made my dreams come true”.”
