SUMMARY:Innovative Models of Holocaust Survivor Support
DESCRIPTION:The Network is proud to co-sponsor the upcoming webinar Innovative Models of Holocaust Survivor Support alongside the Jewish Federations of North America’s Center on Aging\, Trauma\, and Holocaust Survivor Care and the Claims Conference. \nThis timely session will highlight innovative\, person-centered\, trauma-informed (PCTI) approaches to supporting Holocaust survivors\, featuring two complementary models developed by AMCHA – The Israeli Center for Mental Health and Social Support for Holocaust Survivors and the Second Generation\, in collaboration with Tel Aviv University’s School of Social Work. \nParticipants will explore a unique social-therapeutic club model that provides Holocaust survivors with a sense of community\, belonging\, and empowerment\, alongside an intergenerational academic course that connects survivors and second-generation individuals with social work students. Together\, these initiatives demonstrate how PCTI principles — including empowerment\, voice\, choice\, and mutual support — can restore dignity\, identity\, and meaning for aging populations impacted by trauma. \nThe session will feature expert insights from Dr. Liron Ben Ezra and Dr. Dror Golan\, leaders in trauma-informed research\, clinical practice\, and community-based interventions. \n???? Date: February 10\, 2026⏰ Time: 1:00–2:15 PM ET \nLearn More and Register

SUMMARY:NETGroup: Older Adult Services
DESCRIPTION:Topic: How Our Work Narratives Affect Us \nOur work is often shaped by powerful external narratives: aging as decline\, constant crisis response\, limited resources\, and increasing complexity. Over time\, these messages can quietly turn inward—showing up as thoughts like “nothing I do is ever enough\,” “we’re just managing decline\,” “this work is wearing me down\,” or “the system is too broken for real change.” \nIn this session\, we will explore: \n• How these broader narratives show up in our daily work with older adults \n• How they can trigger limiting internal beliefs\, especially under stress \n• Ways to notice and gently reframe these internal narratives to support clarity\, resilience\, and empowering approaches to our work \nThis will be a reflective\, peer-based conversation grounded in real experiences from the field—not therapy\, but a supportive space to think differently about how we carry the work and how the work carries us. \nWe hope you’ll join us for this thoughtful discussion. We will also take the time to thank Ann Sutton Burke\, Vice President Client Services\, Jewish Family Service of the Cincinnati Area\, for her past 3 years as Cochair and welcome our new Cochair\, her colleagues\, Meredith Davis\, Vice President of Quality Assurance\, to the role.

SUMMARY:NETTalk: Footsteps Cultural Awareness Training
DESCRIPTION:Footsteps’ cultural awareness training aims to bring nuanced understanding to working with people who have left or are contemplating leaving\, insular ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities. The training provides context to those who stay in the community\, those who leave the community\, and what the journey out can look like. Participants of Footsteps’ training are given best practices for working with formerly ultra-Orthodox people in a trauma-informed and supportive space. \nFootsteps is an organization in the United States which provides comprehensive services to people who are contemplating leaving or who have chosen to leave their ultra-Orthodox communities and begin new lives. Based in New York\, Footsteps provides a range of services\, including social and emotional support\, educational and vocational guidance\, workshops and social activities\, and access to resources. \n  \nThe training is designed to help: \nUnderstand: \n\nEcosystem of support the community provides and what’s at stake when someone leaves.\nAddressing common misconceptions about this population\nLack of choices that these clients had growing up\, and the impact on psychological development and ability to make larger choices.\nWhat programs Footsteps offers those leaving ultra-orthodox communities\n\nDo: \n\nAdvocacy\nSupport and help these clients about what possible choices are open for them.\n\n  \n \nPhoto credit: David Kogut \nChani Getter\, LCSW\, is a psychotherapist\, award-winning queer activist\, and interfaith minister. Chani also serves as Scholar-in-Residence for Footsteps\, a nonprofit that supports people leaving insular religious communities. Chani’s life and work have been featured in two documentary films\, One of Us and Devout\, and in numerous news outlets including the New York Times\, Wall Street Journal\, Elle\, Haaretz\, and The New Yorker. \nRaised in an ultra-Orthodox Hasidic Jewish home\, Chani entered an arranged marriage at age 18 and quickly had three children. During their second pregnancy\, Chani learned what a lesbian was thanks to a secret television\, Ellen DeGeneres\, and a dictionary. At last\, Chani had a word for something they always knew themselves to be. Yet was never named or discussed. At 23\, Chani left the marriage and began a courageous journey to live authentically. With barely a high school diploma and little work experience\, Chani earned a bachelor degree in human development and a master degree in social work\, was ordained as an interfaith minister\, and opened a therapy practice while working full-time and raising three children alone. \nFor nearly 20 years\, Chani has supported and nurtured a growing community of queer and non-binary people across North America and Europe. The Jewish Women’s Archive highlights Chani’s pivotal role in supporting LGBTQIA+ people\, including those wanting to stay connected to their Orthodox roots. Chani’s first book “Mapito” is a powerful how-to guide for finding\, accepting\, and loving every part of yourself.

SUMMARY:NETGroup: Home Care Administrators
DESCRIPTION:Topic: Measuring Client Satisfaction and Managing After-Hours Coverage \nWe’ll explore two timely topics that impact every agency: client satisfaction and after-hours coverage. \nWe’ll begin with a discussion on client satisfaction — how agencies are measuring it\, addressing concerns\, and using feedback to strengthen services and relationships with clients and families. \nThen\, we’ll turn to after-hours coverage\, a topic that continues to pose operational and staffing challenges. We’ll exchange ideas on: \n• How agencies are currently managing after-hours calls \n• Experiences using external call agencies \n• Internal solutions such as rotating schedules\, stipends\, or work cell phone arrangements \nThis session will be a valuable opportunity to learn from peers and share practical approaches for improving both service quality and staff support. \nWe look forward to seeing you there and hearing your insights. \n \nThis program is made possible by the generous support of Lizzy Care. GUIDE (Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience) is a fully funded Medicare program that provides caregivers of people living with dementia with essential services\, resources\, and support. As an approved GUIDE Model provider\, Lizzy Care offers 24/7 access to trusted medical professionals and builds a connected Care Circle that brings doctors\, friends\, and family together through an easy-to-use platform and app. This coordinated approach helps caregivers feel supported and less anxious every step of the way.
