SUMMARY:NETGroup: Diversity\, Equity & Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:Topic: DEI Under Pressure – Open Conversation on Challenges and Change \nWe’ll hold space for an open\, peer-to-peer discussion—no speakers\, just honest conversation. As organizations navigate evolving policies and public discourse around DEI and rising antisemitism\, many are facing complex challenges and tough decisions. This forum is an opportunity to share what you’re experiencing\, hear how others are responding\, and connect with colleagues working through similar questions. Whether you’re wrestling with internal practices\, external messaging\, or shifting institutional priorities\, your voice and perspective are welcome. \nPlease consider coming prepared to discuss your responses to the following questions: \n• How has your organization responded to recent shifts in DEI-related policies or funding priorities? \n• What tensions or challenges have emerged around addressing antisemitism within broader DEI frameworks? \n• Are there specific moments or decisions where your team felt stuck—or found a breakthrough? \n• What support or resources do you wish you had right now? \n• How are you balancing internal culture and external pressures in this climate?

SUMMARY:Promoting Civil Discourse in Jewish Human Service Agencies Across Political Divides
DESCRIPTION:Cohort 1: Session 1 \nDesigned for CEOs\, executive leadership\, and HR professionals. Space is limited and first-come\, first-serve; we’re prioritizing professional leadership and HR staff\, with an initial limit of one participant per agency. \nWe have heard from countless member agencies that the ongoing societal tensions around both the current U.S. and Canadian political climates and the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East (plus related increase in antisemitic threats and physical violence) have crossed into day-to-day staff\, client\, and Board dynamics. \nThese challenges contribute to workplace and relationship tensions among the diverse staff working in Jewish human service agencies. Both Jewish and non-Jewish staff report discomfort and sometimes fear with colleagues’ views regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (both the current and historical situation\, the hostage crisis\, the casualties on both sides\, and the broader conflict with Iran and its proxies) and the political realities in the U.S. and Canada. There are also tensions working with clients who hold and express opposing views from clinicians and other professional staff working with them. \nLed by Resetting the Table\, this initiative provides training for Jewish human service agency professional leadership on civil discourse\, conflict resolution\, and communication skill building for collaborative conversations about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and current U.S. and Canadian political discourse\, and also skills to reduce anxiety and manage feelings when interacting with a colleague or client with opposing views. There will also be an educational component presenting various viewpoints on the conflict. \nThe outcome would be Jewish human service agencies’ building a culture of productive dialogue among diverse staff. Staff will be able to maintain cordial and receptive relationships while being able to express opposing viewpoints without engendering anger\, fear and/or anxiety. These skills will translate into their work with clients with opposing values/viewpoints. \n

SUMMARY:NETGroup: Integrated JFS's
DESCRIPTION:Topic: The Challenge of Leading in Integrated Settings \nLeading a Jewish Family Service within a larger Federation or multi-service agency brings both opportunities and real challenges. How do you balance your JFS identity and priorities while aligning with the broader organization? How do you ensure your community sees and understands your value? \nOn our upcoming Executive call on Monday\, September 8th at 2pm ET\, we’ll tackle some of these questions head-on: \nShould a JFS within a larger agency have its own board or strategic plan? \nWhat happens when it does—or when it doesn’t? \nWhere do Federations provide real benefit\, and where do they create tension? \nThis will be a candid conversation about the tradeoffs\, strategies\, and leadership decisions that come with working in integrated settings. Bring your experiences—and your questions—for a peer discussion designed to spark practical insight.
