DESCRIPTION:Topic: Eating Disorders in the Orthodox Community \nWe’ll focus on Eating Disorders Among the Orthodox Community— a sensitive and important topic affecting many families and communities. We are fortunate to have Marcy Forte\, EdD\, MBA\, Director of Atzmi\, and Sarah Bateman\, LCSW\, Jewish Community Liaison\, at The Renfrew Center to discuss this with us. https://atzmi.org/ Atzmi supports the mental health of Jewish girls via programs designed to improve self-compassion and body acceptance\, significantly reducing eating disorder onset. https://renfrewcenter.com/ The Renfrew Center is a treatment center that provides all levels of treatment – outpatient therapy\, intensive outpatient (IOP)\, partial hospitalization (PHP) / day treatment\, and residential treatment. They are also nationally known for training and educating professionals on the unique and specific considerations when treating eating disorders in Orthodox Jewish clients. \nOur discussion will explore: \n• The unique cultural and religious factors influencing body image and eating behaviors \n• How stigma and silence can impact treatment and recovery \n• Strategies for engaging families and community leaders in support and prevention \nThis will be an open conversation among colleagues to share observations\, resources\, and approaches from your agencies.
