The Coordinating Council on Access and Mobility Technical Assistance Center (CCAM-TAC) has announced the 2027 Community Rides Grant Program, a competitive funding opportunity designed to strengthen local transportation coordination and partnerships and improve transportation access for populations with the greatest need.
The program will provide up to five grants of up to $100,000 each to support pilot projects focused on new or expanded transportation access. Projects may address access to healthcare, employment, education, healthy food, social services, and regional coordination through innovative service delivery, technology adoption, or partnership frameworks.
Eligibility
Eligible lead applicants include:
- Public transit providers
- Tribal transit providers
- Local government entities
- Nonprofit human service providers that receive or are eligible to receive Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding, including Section 5307, Section 5311, Section 5310, or Tribal Transit Program funds
Applicants must submit their proposal as part of a formal partnership that includes transit and non-transit agencies, such as healthcare systems, workforce development boards, social service agencies, educational institutions, or local nonprofits. Proposals must include signed Letters of Commitment or formal Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) outlining partner roles and/or financial contributions.
Funding & Project Activities
Funding may support activities including operating costs associated with new or expanded transportation services, salaries or wages tied to new or expanded roles, technology implementation, mobility management and planning, and marketing and public engagement. Vehicle purchases and continuation of existing transportation services without expansion, innovation, or coordination changes are not eligible expenses.
Selected grantees will participate in an assessment and planning phase with CCAM-TAC prior to launching their 12-month pilot projects.
